Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Coton de Tulear?

The Coton de Tulear is a small, charming companion dog originally from Madagascar. Known for their soft, cotton-like coat and affectionate, playful personality, Cotons are intelligent, social, and deeply loyal to their families.

Why are Black & White Cotons so rare?

While many Cotons are white, black and white Cotons are less common and considered a rarity. This coloration is part of the breed's original genetic heritage but is less frequently seen today. We’re proud to preserve and celebrate this beautiful and unique variation at Celestial Cotons.

Where are your puppies raised?

All of our puppies are raised in our loving home—not in kennels. They are socialized from day one and exposed to a variety of sights, sounds, and gentle handling to ensure confident, well-adjusted temperaments.

What’s included when I adopt a puppy?

  • A health certificate and veterinary records

  • First vaccinations and deworming

  • A puppy starter pack (blanket with mom’s scent, sample food, toys, etc.)

  • A written health guarantee

  • Ongoing support from us throughout your puppy’s life

Do you perform health testing?

Yes. Health is a top priority at Celestial Cotons. All of our breeding dogs undergo genetic health testing and regular veterinary care to ensure they are clear of breed-specific issues and in excellent condition.

How can I reserve a puppy?

We accept applications for our waitlist through our website. Once your application is reviewed and approved, you’ll be contacted with updates on upcoming litters and available puppies. A deposit is required to reserve a puppy once selections begin.

Do you have a contract or spay/neuter agreement?

Yes. All families will sign a puppy contract that includes a spay/neuter agreement unless special arrangements are made in advance. Our goal is to protect the breed and ensure all puppies are placed in safe, committed homes.

When can I bring my puppy home?

Puppies go to their new homes at around 9–10 weeks old, once they are fully weaned, vet-checked, and developmentally ready to transition to a new environment.
